Nightspine

Your books as a shelf of spines. Reviews, wishlists, Story-ready cards.

$ cat README.md

What it does

A shelf, not a dashboard

Dark, warm and quiet. Books are vertical spines in book-cloth colours, grouped by where you are with them: reading, read, want to read. A book you are part-way through fills from the bottom as you go.

Reviews you can actually share

Half-star ratings, mood tags and a review card that puts your pull-quote next to the book's spine. Spoiler reviews stay behind a veil until someone taps to reveal them, in the app and on the card.

Books you did not finish still count

Most reading apps quietly delete a DNF. Nightspine keeps it on the shelf, cut at the point you stopped, with room for one honest line about why. Abandoning a book is a reading decision, not a failure to record.

Wishlists that work as gift links

Keep a list per occasion, add a note to any book and share it as a link. Whoever opens it sees the books and your notes in a browser, no account, no app install. Revoke the link whenever you want.

$ ./join-testers nightspine

Be one of the first

Nightspine is in closed testing on Google Play. Three steps and one Google account: use the same one for all three, because Play matches testers by it.

  1. Join the testers group

    One Google Group opens the test for every app I have in testing. Join it with the Google account your phone's Play Store uses.

    join the group
  2. Opt in to Nightspine

    Open the link signed in with that same account and tap “Become a tester”.

    opt in
  3. Install it and stay 14 days

    Google opens a new app to everyone once 12 testers have kept it for 14 days. Open it now and then and tell me what you find.

    get it

All three happen on Google's side; nothing here asks for your email. Found a bug or have an idea? feedback@nightspine.com
